Welcome to the web site of Jody Bresch: poet, photographer, politician, wife, mother and teacher. I was born and raised in Ottumwa, Iowa, hometown of prize-winning author, Edna Ferber, Miss Universe, Carol Morris, and comedian, Tom Arnold. My husband, Mike, and I, have five sons: recording artist, Matthew Clay, Marcus Cole, Lucas Cale, Ian Mikhail Colby, and Hunter Cole Bresch.

My ancestors were pioneers in Adair County Missouri, and this web site is dedicated to honoring their early contributions in honing a new way of life out of that virgin wilderness. My great, great grandfather, Washington Miller settled in Adair County in 1848. He returned to Tennessee for my great, great grandmother, Grace, and together they built a dwelling on a slight rise above Indian Hill Creek northeast of Gifford, Missouri.

Unfortunately, Washington Miller did not survive long in this new wilderness, but Grace and their descendants did and plalyed a vital role in the exciting history of Adair County. I'm saddened that so little has been said about these brave adventurers, and I hope to correct that here. I am proud of their fortitude, their courage, their tenacity, and hope you find them to be as amazing as I have. Thank you.  Jody Anne Bresch
